It will be worth your time to interview different real estate professionals. Google their names, check out all their social media pages, read client reviews and browse their website. Ask for referrals from family and friends. Make sure the real estate agent specializes in the home you desire and has experience working in your market. There has to be a personality match between you and your real estate agent. Lastly, DO YOUR HOME RESEARCH
Don’t rely solely on your real estate agent to locate your dream home for you. Visit desired communities during the day and night, attend open houses which are usually held on Saturdays and Sundays, interview people who live in the community, research community leaders, check out restaurants, shopping and other big chain establishments in the community, read reviews on line about the community and check for any local news about the community. Learn as much information about the community as you can as this is a place you will live for years and will possibly raise a family.
Be specific and realistic on your home expectations and be conscious of your budget at all times. Make a priority list and divide your list into must have and wants. You may not find a home that has everything you are looking for but it will be easier for you and your agent to find you a home with the things that are most important to you. Be sure you are familiar with different home styles and decide if pre-owned or new construction is best for you.
